First things first.
The federal government has developed guidelines (found in the Cooperative Agreement) that require that refugees receive household items appropriate for their new life in America. This resettlement program is designed to be a public-private partnership – which means that resettlement agencies, like JVS or Catholic Charities, must solicit members of the local community for donations (funds and gifts-in-kind) to set up households for new arrivals.
That's where we come in.
When refugees arrive in the United States, they come with very few, if any, warm clothing or household items. They need to furnish an entire home with very few financial resources. We acquire those items and distribute them to refugee families in need.
You can participate by donating household items, donating warm clothing, hosting an item drive, or giving financially. And, entire churches or local groups can get involved too. Get your group involved.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our new neighbors.
